Start with your staircase

Explore Acorn straight, curved and outdoor options. Ask Acorn to assess your staircase, your comfort and the proposed installation together.

Acorn straight stairlifts

A straight stairlift follows a flight without a bend or intermediate change of direction. That simpler rail does not remove the need for a survey. The chair, your seated position, the landing and the other people using the stairs still need to be considered together.

Acorn curved stairlifts

A curved stairlift follows bends, intermediate landings or a change in stair direction. The rail is planned for the actual route. A curved staircase in a photograph cannot establish price or fit, and the number of steps is not a substitute for a home survey.

Acorn outdoor stairlifts

An outdoor chairlift must be intended by its manufacturer for the actual environment. A cover does not make an indoor model suitable outside. The assessment should consider the entrance, the weather exposure and a usable place to sit down or stand up at each end.

Plan your project with our main partner, Acorn

1

Describe your stairs

Note the turns, landings and rooms you want to reach. You do not need to take measurements yourself.

2

Review the Acorn quotation

Ask Acorn to specify the rail, seat, installation, warranty and ongoing support in writing.

3

Decide at your own pace

A family member can help you review the proposal. Your comfort and everyday needs lead the conversation.

Your Acorn buying checklist

Comfort is more than a padded seat

Ask to try sitting down, reaching the controls and turning to stand at the landing. Discuss the footrest and belt, manual versus powered features, and the space left for other people. The right questions start with how you move in everyday life.
